If you take Drivers Ed can you get your license in less than 6 months?

Hi I'm 15, and i live in the state of New York. My 16th birthday is on May 17th. If i take drivers ed in the summer will i be able to get my license in less than six months? Or do i still have to wait?|||If I remember correctly, you still have to wait. The six months is to give you enough time to learn the basics.

It also depends on your county.|||Only permit till your 18.. permit only allows to drive with an 18 and over adult with a state license|||i think you have to hold onto your permit for 9 months

Can I still get my full drivers license or do I need to take drivers ed?

I wanted to get my drivers license so I took this 5 hour pre licensing course and filled out a DMV form that says i drove over 20 hours under supervision. Im turning 17 next week.I heard this pre licensing course will only give me a junior license at 17. Can I still get my full drivers license or do I need to take drivers ed?|||Depends on where you are from but in most all states you will need to take drivers ed.......|||Try DriversEd.com

At what age can I start drivers ed?

Do you have to be 15 1/2 to start drivers ed or do you have to be 15 1/2 to take the permit test? In other words, can I start drivers ed before I turn 15 1/2?|||Beats me. It's a very big world after all, and each country and each state in the US has their own rules. So your question can't be answered except to list the age when you can get a permit in every state and country. You could add location to your question, and perhaps get an answer.

Generally though, you can't start drivers ed classes until you have your permit, it that's your real question.|||In Florida the age is 15 years old but you can not get your license until you are 16.|||Well at my school, they offer driver's education. And my friend is 15 and is taking it. But, I think generally you must be 15 1/2|||you can start when you get your permit./

Is it possible to start the drivers ed when you are 14?

is it possible to start the drivers ed written exam and classes before you reach the age of 15?|||Maybe, I know here in michigan you have to be 14 and 8 months (or so I think). Best guess is to go to the DMV and ask.|||Yes!!!

I'm nervous about taking Drivers ED and i was wondering if anyone could give me some tips and advice?

I will be taking Drivers ED in 2012 and I am REALLY nervous so I want to start preparing. Does anyone have any tips or advice?|||you have plenty of time to go to driver's ed and get your permit/ license. The best way to study and pass faster is if you have someone older than 21 to actually teach you how to drive. I did this, a family member taught me some driving skills :) and also, you can take the DMV's sample test on their website. But, you HAVE to study the booklet! If you fail, you will have to pay the same expensive fee every time, which will make them richer :P so If you are just taking the alcohol/drug test in the driver's school where ever you live, jsut take down every note that you think will be in the test. Keep those notes until you actually take the real thing.

When taking the driving test, with the guy that will score you on how well you do, stay calm and don't fret! I know, it was for me. I had to take the written test twice just to pass it on the third try O_O. So... yeah, just study and memorize, ESPECIALLY!|||Hello K.C.!

2012! You have a loooong time to prepare. Drivers ed isn't something to be worried about, its quite simple actually. Im sure you'll do fine.

Have you considered taking it online?

Anyways, i took drivers ed at : www.driversedtogo.com

It took me awhile to find the cheapest one, but i finally did it. At first i was wondering if they were legit or not, but my friend completed it and he got his certificates in the mail so i did it.

The course is pretty easy. I think its 16 different chapters with lots of pictures and videos. And at the end there is a final exam that you must get 32/36 correct to pass. You can take as long as you want and take it as many times as you want until you pass.

It costs $20 or LESS with this code: X2K-9FB-34E

How can I get a license in Texas without drivers ed?

I'm 16 yrs old and my cousin didn't take drivers ed. She had her parents sign this paper and then they practiced with her how to drive and she had to complete a certain number of hours to get her license. I was wondering how do can I take the same thing.|||It's called "Parent taught driver education" and it's allowed in Texas.

Texas implemented a Parent Taught Driver Education Program on April 1, 1997. The Parent Taught Driver Education Program requires students to acquire the essential knowledge, skills and experience to perform reduced-risk practices in the total traffic environment. To achieve this goal, students are required to master the following elements: applicable Texas traffic laws, rules and procedures for operating and owning an automobile; benefits of occupant protections, use of a space management systems; factors and behaviors that effect driver performance including alcohol and other drugs; and protection of Texas natural resources, including litter prevention.

The Parent Taught Driver Education Program is available to teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17. However, before the instructor (parent, stepparent, grandparent, step-grandparent, foster parent or legal guardian) begins teaching this course, the instructor must have a valid TEXAS driver license for the preceding three years. Active US military personnel and their spouse may participate as instructors if they hold a valid license from their state of permanent residence or last duty station for the preceding three years..|||You can get a temp license to practice while you have someone older with you in the car. Its much better because its cheaper and you can do it on your own schedule. I have friends who took it in school and it dragged on for 6 weeks -_-.

It costs about $25 to take it online at Driversedtogo.com(I took it here), But for you in rhode island it will cost about $100. Heres a cupon code if you want, its not much but hey its $3 lol

When paying for it enter the code: X2K-9FB-34E

For the behind the wheel, you need to take 6 hours at least to get your license. The total cost will be about $300 depending on where you live. If you live in a crowded city, i suggest you go to a less crowded place so it will be easier

Heres the steps you have to take:

1) Sign up and complete Drivers ed. If you take it online it consists of 16 chapters with a final exam at the end. They will send you a certificate of completion.

2)You sign up for behind the wheel drivers training and get an Enrollment certificate.

3)You go to the DMV with Both certificates and take the driver permit written exam.

4)after you pass you have to wait 6 months to get your license or until your 18(Whichever comes first). You also need to have completed 6 hrs of behind the wheel training and 50 hours driving experience with a adult over 25.

5)Pass driving test

6) Get your license :D

Do you have to take drivers ed classes in order to take the permit test?

I'm really busy and dont have time for classes, so can I learn the same things in drivers ed. at home and take the permit test?|||it depends on what state you live in.

Do I need to take a drivers ed class before getting my permit or license?

Im 15 now, and i was just wondering if i need to take a drivers education class before getting my permit or license...I was thinking to take a drivers ed class this year when i start my sophomore year, would that be ok? Would it be too late to sign up for it?|||I would suggest taking a drivers ed course. Some states give you insurance discounts if you have a certificate from completing a course. If it is too late to sign up in your school, you can do it MUCH faster at a private drivers education school. It takes a whole semester in high school, yet it only took me about 12 hours total, to take a private class.

I think it was a couple hundred bucks. But, well worth not sitting through a semester of drivers ed. Good luck!

How will an insurance company in canada know if iv completed drivers ed ?

When applying for auto insurance people who completed drivers ed receive a discount. thanks for your help!!|||Hi:

Driver's Ed is what you make it. The teacher has to cover a great amount of material over a short time. In addition, the classes are usually large.

I would suggest you get a drivers handbook and read it carefully. If you have access to a car practise city driving with attention to turns and parking. Try to find a place where you can practise backing up. Pay attention to your pre-starting habits they are important for safety and are part of the driver's test. If you don't understand ask for help from your teacher or in-car instructor. I hope these suggestions help. Have fun!

I used to be a Driver's Ed teacher in Canada.|||Don't crash.|||Even though it's stuff that helps you out in the long run, driver's ed instructors tend to be long winded and extremely boring. Also, they play A LOT of really boring movies that were produced int he 80's and therefore have incredibly lame music. Make sure you're awake when you go to driver's ed class. Good grades sometimes give you additional benefits as far as testing goes.|||yes you will be bored dont fall asleep dont scare the instructor when you take him in the car

-Is Drivers Ed hard?

-What major things will be on the test?

-Is the test hard?

-Am i going out of my way everyday and studying?

-What advice would you give me?

-What are the main things i should study?

-What should i bring to class?

Please answer as many of the questions you can. Thanks in advance.|||The written test is extremely easy...I believe everyone in my class passed with little or no effort. I never studied and I did the homework 5 minutes before it was due in class. You should be more than prepared for the course, you should prolly trim down your studying so you dont get yourself worked up or nervous. Bring to class your permit, drivers ed book, and a pencil. Studying street signs is a good idea, and rules of the road...such as when its ok to pass or not. The actual road test is the only thing you need to be worried about, but its not bad, only reason most people fail it is because they are too nervous. If you fail your first time dont worry, most people do.|||drivers ed is easy, but soo boring, the permit test is just common sense, just bring a pen and pencil with you, the test is pretty much street signs|||im sure its different for every state but drivers ed is simple..there are two tests to get your permit..a signs test and a road rules test which are pretty easy all you need for class is a pencil and notebook and be prepared to write alot of notes

(In North Dakota you can get it at 14)

Do I have to take Drivers Ed since im under 16?

Do you have an estimation of how much it costs?

Please and Thank You!!! :)|||I cant believe they let 14 year olds behind the wheel. I live in Buffalo NY and you have to be 16 just to get your permit. Drivers ed here is a few hundred for a summer session, but you save a lot on insurance so it makes up for it in the end. Taking driver's ed is not necessary here in order to get your permit or license at 16.|||Drivers Ed given thru a school should not cost anything extra than the fees for the driver permit, exam, and then the actual license. Now, having said that, some schools are being forced to recoup some costs, so simply talk with the school to find out the fees and costs for your drivers ed program.

Good luck.

Please remember, do not drink and drive! Too many have died.

Also, studies have shown that cellphone use while driving is as bad as being drunk... so please please please, dont talk on the cellphone while driving. Thanks.|||Yes. You have to take it because it doesn't matter about the written test, it matters on your driving. A liscense is $25 (to own it)

Good Luck! ;)

Drivers ed........................?

I'm taking drivers ed in a few weeks. Is it like school? What is it like?|||Its really boring. You just sit there are stay awake. Basically you learn about the driving laws in your state, so yeah it's like school

Good luck lol

EDIT: Yeah, we got tests and some homework. There was this book of laws and a workbook to go with it that basically explained everything. We would get tested on that and had to complete the workbook. It really does help for when you actually go in to take the written exam at the DMV though|||Yea, they teach you how to drive.|||I didn't know they still offered that. Or is it just here in Kalifonia where we can't afford to offer it to students anymore?|||If I remember correctly, you'll spend a few hours a day in a classroom setting and then a few hours taking turns behind the wheel. If you had gotten your license there, you should only need to take the test in washington to get your license there.

You may be able to just apply for your permit though, I guess you just need to talk to the dmv in washington and find out.

If you are older than 18 you should only need to take the test anyway, unless that state requires drivers ed no matter what age you are.|||Since you never received a California license, if you are under 18, you will need to follow the requirements of the state of Washington to get a permit and license, including attending a Washington state approved drivers ed course. You're there to learn. 32.|||Most people make drivers ed fun but it's also an eye opener - and often tests your knowledge of driving and behavior in interesting ways.

It's supposed to punish you for getting a ticket but it usually isn't boring. Don't go with the expectation that it will be boring, just look forward to learning some interesting stuff and if it's a ticket you're neutralizing, you can vent about why you think you didn't deserve it.

Beats having a ticket on your driving record and added $$ to your insurance. Drivers ed?

ok, so i didnt go to a American highschool..

but for in the summer im turning 15 and i want to know,

where should i go to get drivers ed/my learners permit?|||There are independent driving schools all over the place. Probably the most common on in the U.S. is operated by Sears. In my state you have to get documentation from a driving school to get your permit at age 15. Then you go get it from the DMV or DOL, its called different names in different states.

I recommend spending a little extra money and going to a really good one. I appreciate it every day I get behind the wheel, it changes your whole perspective. Interestingly enough, a lot of public schools are phasing out driver's ed.

Drivers ed?

If I took drivers ed, does my insurance cost go down? And if so how much?|||Just about every insurer offers a discount because it statistically lowers your chances of getting into an accident substantially. The insurer I work for provides a 25-30% discount (depending on the state), and is offered until the driver is 21 years old. Even if your insurer doesn't offer a discount, it is still a very good idea to take the course.|||No, it allows you to pursue a drivers license! Without drivers ed, most states will not permit you to obtain a valid drivers license. Personally I don't see the big deal! I see people every day that still can't drive but they have a license. So why bother, let's all just do the old "trial and error" technique!|||It depends on the insurance company. The one I work for doesn't offer a discount for that. Drivers ed?

how old do you half to be to take drivers ed|||Youngest you can be is 15 in most states. You recieve your permit after you complete drivers ed. I go to school through a Virtual Academy.

And I was wondering are there drivers ed courses. I can take?|||Some public schools (you're actually in one as a VA student) allow HS'ers to take Driver's Ed at the school - for a *fee*. You'd be better off spending about the same amount of money and going to a driving school in your area. That way you don't have to conform to the PS's schedule.

Taking driver's ed can gain you (or your parents) a good discount on your auto insurance. It's a great thing to do.|||Drivers Ed in the school system is a joke!! Just pay to go to one of the Drivers schools or have your parents teach you.|||virtually none -- LOL but true.

the first time driving is really scary, but you(or at least i did) get the hang of it pretty quick.

just remember to always be safe!|||First of all, try to relax. Your instructor is suppose to a professional. Try to listen to what he/she says. Most cars have a dual steering/brake system. And even if it does not, the instructor should take you to an open area to see how you handle the vehicle, before taking you onto a roadway.

If you feel totally uneasy with this instructor, don't feel bad to requet another. Sometimes personalities conflict, and this is a definite deficit to your learning ability. GOOD LUCK !

You learn about road signs, road laws, speed limits, and you get to drive a car around with an instructor to learn how to drive.

It costs around $300.

You can do it online or go to a driver's ed school

And the point of it is so there's not some ignorant idiot driving around who doesn't know what the heck they're doing.|||In the USA, Driver's Ed is part of the usual high school curriculum. During 10th grade, I went thru the classroom version of Driver's Ed as part of my P.E. class. Then while I was 15 1/2 I was able to get my learner's permit, and take the behind the wheel portion, so that on my 16th birthday was able to take and pass the test to get my official drivers license.

My son, went thru a similar program, just like I did. I am sure the class was updated a bit during those 30 years.

In Illinois you can get your Driver's License at age 16 if you've passed High School Driver's Ed. If not you can't get your License until you are 18 years old.

Drivers ED?

Can anyone tell me what drivers ed is like in detail please. I am 17 and my dad is making me take it so can someone please tell me what its like and if you've taken it in Oklahoma that would be even better thanks!|||Ok... so drivers ed is made out to be a big deal and it actually is no worse than high school. You go to the school and learn the rules of the road for Oklahoma the dangers of drinking and driving the dangers of drugs and driving and all other hazards. You bring a notebook and take some notes and they tell you what to do in certain circumstances and how to read the signs of the road. They will explain all the basic maintenance of a car such as tires, oil changes, batteries and anything that an average Joe can do. All in all driving school is no big deal so take notes take your test and you are done.|||it was worse for me my drivers ed teacher was blind, but no worry if your not ready to drive just pass others are readily eager to drive|||well I'm 16 and i got my license a few months ago. i live in Massachusetts. i don't know if its any different there but here it consists of something like 8 driving hours with you in a car with an instructor. but before that you must take a 40 hour course in some place like a school. at least that's where i took it. i had to take a few tests but for me they were not to hard. overall the whole thing kinda sucks and is pretty boring but its worth it. hope this helped but everything may be different there anyways.|||I recently took driver's ed. The class was extremely boring, and the teacher tried to scare you into being a cautious driver with flat out lies. You even get homework-finding news paper articles and writing about them. The road part is a pain, as you are cramed five people in one car. It did not help my driving much, as I failed the test several times. The only thing that makes it worth it is the insurance discount, but make sure you get a big one. Gec said I already get too many discounts, so they wouldn't give me much.

Drivers Ed?

im taking drivers ed this month and just wondering if anyone had any tips on driving or the class?|||im tking it too....bring a pillow it gets pretty boring|||they give you all the tips you need

But stay away from bringing in hot food leftovers when you get meal breaks, the instructors hate the smell... mine did

oh yes and stay awake.... but it won't be hard they make it pretty interesting.... and beware the videos... some have gross out human road splatter

Drivers ed?

do you have to take drivers ed to get a drivers license or can you get it automatically? whats a permit?|||a permit is what you have to first get. after having it for however long the state requires then you can take your test for the license. and the drivers ed class only depends on the state and also on your age|||I'm in South Carolina. No state that I know of requires driver's ed. It will entitle you to a small discount on your auto insurance if you have it. A permit is what you get when you successfully pass the written part of the driving exam without taking or passing the actual driving part. The permit allows you to drive supervised by a licensed driver in the car with you. Good luck:)|||you have 2 take drivers ed first a permit is you can drive idk i cant explain it but you have 2 get ur permit and wait 6 months then you can get ur drivers license a permit is saying that ur legall to drive or w.e and u took drivers ed sumn like that|||of course you have to take drivers ed!

if you are 15 1/2, you are eligible for your permit. to obtain your permit, you'll have to take classes at your local driving school or go to your local driving school and tell them you want to take the classes online (i think it costs more to do them online), and people there will get you all set up.

after you take the classes, you'll have to call the DVM nearest you and schedule a day to take the permit test-it's a written test. after the test, they will grade it and tell you if you passed or not. if you passed, they'll take your picture and print you out a permit paper. thus, you are free to drive with a parent or someone over 25 years old ONLY. you will also be redeemed 3 driving lessons with an instructor from the driving school before the license test and you can schedule those with the driving school also-they will provide the car.

after you've had your permit for 6 months and your 16th birthday has arrived, you schedule a date to take the driving test to obtain your license. you'll be tested on the hand signals, if you know how to use important things on your car and if you know where they are, how well you drive the car, and if you know your "street smarts"-just what signs mean, what double yellow lines mean, etc.

if you don't pass the permit test, you'll have to reschedule a date five days after the day you failed the test the first time-the driving school will provide you with all that info.

advice-don't be nervous for any of the tests or while you drive and if you get into a difficult situation in a split second. it's a breeze! i was nervous the first few times i drove, but then i relaxed and things were much better!

good luck!|||if your under 18 you have to go to drivers ed, get a permit then wait for a little bit to get your liscence|||In Canada, driver's ed is optional but will help with insurance rates when you actually drive.

A learner's permit is what you get when you are the legal age and pass a written test on rules and road signs.|||permit is like the starting point for license. get a permit if your at least 15 1/2. i have coupon!!

you get 5 bucks off. its a start to getting the permit!!!|||No, you do not have to take Drivers-Ed, to get a license. You need to get a Leaners Permit first. This will allow you to learn, and to get experience driving while in the care of a licensed driver. Some states have requirements as to who would be allowed to ride with you during this critical process. When you have mastered your skills, and have had your permit for the designated time required by your state, you may apply for, and test for the real drivers license! Don't be scared, everyone has done it! Study hard, practice makes perfect your skills! The only thing automatic about a license is the many ways one can lose it. Those will be explained in your state's manual. Good luck, and happy motoring!|||you must take drivers ed through your school or a insurance agency. a permit is when you are 15 or just starting drivers ed and you must driv with another licenced driver in the passengers side|||Not sure on getting a license, A learners permit is a license that you can get so you can learn how to drive|||ddepends on where u live...i liv in alaska and here we dont even have drivers ed...and a permit here is something that u can get at 14 and we still have to drive with a parent.|||It is required to have a driver's ed. certification in order to take the behind-the-wheel test and obtain a driver's license. A permit is a permit letting you drive with someone over 21 in a desginated vehicle. You can't drive unless you have a note that permits you to drive around for a quick errand. Permit is something you get after you pass the written test at the DMV.|||Yes, at least in the united states. Drivers ed allows new drivers to get experience. You have to pass exams and stuff. A permit allows you to drive with an experienced driver for one year. You can drive from 5a.m. to 9p.m. only for the first six months, but after that period of time you can drive at any time. You keep your permit for at least a year, but it is good for 18 months.|||The permit is what you use while you're learning to drive. It doesn't give you full priveledges. I heard that soon they will make it manditory to have drivers ed to complete a test and get your license but as of now, no it's not required, at least in my state.|||To tell you how I got mine. I paid $12.50 for ten courses, and took the permit text. Then tried for my license and got it on the first try.But you need to run the permit first, then on to the license text.

Drivers Ed?

I am 15, and im about to start Texas Drivers Ed... any tips on what i need to know... or some advice on what is important to know on the test?|||drivers ed may be the most boring 8 hours of your life but you will learn a lot...just listen and on the test; make COMPLETE stops, roll down ur window at railroad, ALWAYS turn around and look before changing lanes, and at the very beginning of the test ask you're instructor to buckle up...but say it like "click it or ticket" "buckle up for safety"...it may be corny but I guarantee it'll earn you extra points! :) GOOD LUCK!|||http://www.dmv.org/tx-texas/department-m鈥?/a>

just go here|||first thing you do is put on your seat belt o and as soon as you can see the place your going to turn at turn on your blinker|||be alert on what is around you. I would study the rules like, how many feet should you stay away from a school bus. and how far should you stay away from etc. Like leave a car or 2 length between you and the car in front of you. Its easy. Youll get it|||i would tell u read the drivers manual and go to the dmv webpage but trust me u need to be secure and dont be nervous because if ur not secure of ur self whats the point of studying if at the time u are going to forget everything.... its mostly common sense.. and trust me the drivers ed test are more hard than the real thing!|||Just read the Drivers maual twice and youll do find on the permit test|||how to drive prob helps! Highway code and that kinda stuff....|||just read the book, buckle up, make sure everyone buckles up, adjust mirrors, dont do donuts(my friend did this durning drivers ed :) ) just do all safety things and be alert and you will be fine|||Make sure and actually read the text book. As long as ya' do that you're pretty good otherwise. It's practically impossible to fail the driving part as long as you don't crash the car (LOL)... Oh and don't get nervous, it only pisses off the coaches and makes you drive worse!|||Im from minnesota and the test is very easy its mostly just common sense. the texas knowledge test is probably even easier because you don't have to worry about driving in snow and about snowplows. just make sure u scan over the different signs b4 the test

Drivers Ed...???

im starting drivers ed on monday and im scared cuz like what if i hit sum 1??? Or like idk!!! im terriffied, but I want to go...I want to learn, but im scared...ne tips??|||Hey. I know it might be scary but tI don't think they will start you off driving on a street. They usually start with a course to go through without using the break... It's a good way to get your driving legs and be more relaxed.

Good luck!|||tell your parents to take you to an empty parking lot. so you can get the feel of the car. thats what i did before i started drivers ed. i was scared as hell to. but after i drove around the parking lot for a little while. i wasnt so scared any more.|||You'll be fine. There will be a good mix of classroom and driver's ed range training before you hit the open road. I wouldn't worry about it. And as long as your instructor has both legs you will be fine (mine had a freaking peg leg - no joke!).|||We were all scared at first. Now its just an every day thing. You will do fine. Just pay attention to the instructor. When your driving, be very aware of what is going on around you. Don't drive fast, the time you save will be negligible.|||Take your time and watch your teacher. you all not be in the car frist you will be in a classroom with t.v. that looks like you are in a car. then your teacher will take you out on the road. the teacher has a brake on her or his side to help you out if you need it. Just take your time and you well do great.|||When you start driving, make sure you do not try to center your car in the lane by looking at the lines on the road. Just look straight ahead and your peripheral vision will see the front of the car and allow you to adjust the wheel as needed to maintain the car centered in the lane. If you try to aim the car using the lines you will over-steer back and forth.

What is the best website Drivers Ed?

I want to take drivers ed online and i have no idea what website to use! It doesn't matter if it is free or not just as long as it is legit.|||I live in cali too and I took mine at driveredtogo.com. It doesn't really matter either way.|||Controlling a car is not an issue. But you have to be sure to know the rules and regulations of driving. If you have a parent of friend that is willing to teach you, then go ahead. And if you think that you can read the State Issued Guide Book to driving and apply everything that you read to your driving, go ahead.

But having an impartial person drive with you and make you aware of what you do and don't do wrong is really a benefit.

Most driving test grade on a point system and if you miss to many then you will have to do the test over and over again.|||Learning to make a car go, and stop, and maybe turn corners is merely the tip of the iceberg. It makes you a simple vehicle operator, not a driver by any stretch of the imagination. There is no substitute for the knowledge that comes from experience, and the abiity of a good instructor to pass that knowledge on. If you wish to live to 20, you have a much better chance it you learn properly.

Whats the best way to get your parents to get you drivers ed?

I want drivers ed I am almost 16 i get good grades and feel i am mature enough to drive. What should i say to my parents to persuade them to get me drivers ed?|||Hey ryan,

The best thing to do is to tell them that doing drivers ed doesn't mean you will start driving. You have to learn about driving stuff sooner or later. And if you start now you will actualyl start driving when you around 17. Also add taht you could help out by buying groceries once you get a car etc. Tell them it also helps lower insurance by more than $20 per month! And its really cheap.

It took me about 3-4 hours to complete the course. It was a rainy day so i had nothing to do :(. Its mostly common sense.

It costs $12-$15(depending on the state) with this code: X2K-9FB-34E

Sixteen class days must be completed along with 14 in-car hours (7 hours of driving and 7 hours of observation).

The classroom session usually takes 22-25 days to complete (32 hours of class - 2 hours a day, Monday through Thursday or Friday depending on the class).

The student is eligible for their permit on the third day of class.

Once a student receives their permit they may start the driving portion of the course.

The student can take as long as 2-6 months to complete the class if the student desires.

Under no circumstances can the class and driving be completed in less than 19 days.

Driving lessons (1 hour of driving and one hour of observation) can only be taken once a day and it is a school policy not to drive more than 1 session per week. (Under special circumstances, staff may allow more. Approval required)

The state requires the student complete the first 3 sessions of class (6 hours) to get the learners permit.

The student must be successfully attempting to attain a high school degree; $180 must be paid and a contract must be on file at the school.

The student must also attain a grade of 70% on the permit test and pass the eye test given at the Driving School.

If the student chooses to get their permit at the Department of Public Safety office, they will retake the test at the DPS.

This is just one example in the state of Texas, hope that it helps.

What kind of degree is needed to be a Drivers Ed teacher?

Hi, i was wondering what kind of degree is needed to be a drivers ed teacher. Also i would like to know how many years of college you have to take for it. Please let me know asap. Thank you!|||In my state you would need to be a certified Secondary teacher. Along with that you would need to have an endorsement to teach drivers education(here it is maybe a 9 hour endorsement-so 3 classes). You would need to go to school at least 4 years. Here you would have to complete all classes to obtain your BA. After that you would enroll in a Secondary ed program along with major in a teaching area. That could be English, Math, etc..|||To be a licensed teacher in the United States, you need, at the minimum, a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. It took me awhile to find the cheapest one, but i finally did it. At first i was wondering if they were legit or not, but my friend completed it and he got his certificates in the mail so i did it.

Do you need to have your learners permit in order to take drivers ed?

I'm 15 years old, freshman going into sophomore year, I just turned 15 a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to know do you need to have your learners permit in order to take drivers ed? Drivers ed is offered at my school, so I'm just worried about getting my permit. I live in Illinois, so do you need to be 15 and 6 months old or something to get your permit, or just 15 years old?|||The description of the class should tell you. Otherwise, contact the school and ask. I had to have mine because we did spend time on the road as well as classroom learning.

I made that last part up myself. 鈥?Thumper|||No, a lot of times the permit test is taken at the end of the course and that is when you get your permit. Unless it is different than Colorado. Obviously, to do any driving part of the instruction, you do need a permit.

When should I start my Drivers Ed Course to get my permit?

I just turned 15. What are the requirements to get a permit?

I heard we have to take Drivers Ed Course, when should I start it and how will the DMV know I took the course?|||If you're in CA, you have to be 15 1/2 to get your permit. I believe you can sign up for and take the on-line training before your 15 1/2, but cannot go get your permit until you turn 15 1/2.

There are a bunch of forms, proof of training the course, birth certificate, parent/guardian consent forms, and stuff you have to take to the DMV with you to take the written exam and stuff for the permit.

Check your state's DMV website for details.|||Mauisunset is right. The DMV will know because you must present the proper paperwork and they call the school to make sure you actually took the class. Tomorrow I'm starting my drivers ed in Canada. Do I need to bring anything and what can I expect in class?

Also is there any group work?|||I haven't taken drivers education in a long time. I would expect you would need to bring a pencil or pen and a note pad in which to take possible notes, and a text book if so required.

Is there any group work? Probably not, but that all depends on how the teacher has planned the class.

This is not a difficult class -- try not to stress over it too much.|||I went through driver's ed just like you are going through so I know how nerve racking this new experience may be. First of all, the thing you need to know is that you should relax. If you relax, don't let your nerves get the best of you and you are focused on learning, and not failing then you will be just fine. Just concentrate on learning the material and relax. As far as what to bring, well here are a few things to bring with you:

*Pen or pencil with notebook paper- of course you need to write down notes or anything important.

*Drivers ed manual - this is key. If you don't have this, you will not be able to follow the instructions or keep up in class. Always bring your driver's ed manual with you to class so you can remember the material.

Overall you need to bring a mindset of being ready to learn. If you aren't ready to learn, and you are too nervous you will fail. So be focused, and bring the items listed.|||For my drivers ed I just brought a notebook and a pen.

We occasionally did group work.

and at the of the class we did a huge group project that was work a ton of points.

We watched some videos and had like 2 guest speakers.

One from organ doners. and Another from the railroad company.

It's a really easy class.

Hope this helps!! :D|||Expect boring videos and lectures. Take paper and pen I suppose.|||there is usually no group work, its really reaaalllly boring, and its basically all common sense...

Do you have to take drivers ed before you get your permit?

I'm living in the state of california and i was wondering if you have to take drivers ed before you get your learners permit?

And do you have to be 15 and 6 months old to get your permit, or can you get it when you turn 15?|||Have you read the drivers manual or gone to the web page? I didn't think so, since the very first thing at http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/dl_info.htm#PER鈥?/a> is this:

To apply for a provisional permit, you will need the following:

鈥e at least 15 陆, but under 18 years of age

and the next thing down says this:

Driver Education and Driver Training Form Requirements

If you are 15 陆 to 17 陆 years of age, you will need to provide proof that you:

OR

鈥re enrolled and participating in an approved integrated driver education/driver training program (DL 400).

Think about it. What do you do in drivers ed? Class room and behind the wheel. What do you need to drive? A learners permit.

I took Drivers ed in PA and i moved to Maryland last year do i have to take it again in Maryland???

I had my permit for over 6 months now can i still take my drivers test?|||I would say no. In most states, all driver's ed is is just an insurance break. So, go ahead and get in that line at the DMV now, cause by the time you get to the counter, you'll have had that permit a year.|||I do not think so unless they are so different with their laws of driving. I mean where I live I get 10% off my insurance because of it. I think that will go for any state that you live in but then again I may be wrong so the best thing to do is to talk to the people at the place where you would get your new driver's license.|||Unfortunately your permit is not likely to be recognized by any state other than the one that issued it. The driver's ed might count from PA to MD. Each state has their own rules, regulations and laws over the whole process from permit to license. The first thing I would do is go to this page (http://www.dmv.org/teen-drivers.php) and read the requirements for PA and MD. Then you should call the MD DMV (http://www.dmv.org/dmv-phone-numbers.php鈥?/a> and ask them if they will honor a PA permit or driver's ed class. Good Luck!

It's all in your head thats causing the fear. For a moment do this excercise... just sit there... picture in your mind a board 4" thick, a foot wide, and 50 feet long, and its laying on the ground in front of you.... Can you walk the length of that board?. Okay now picture the same board... in your mind... but this time it is suspended between 2 buildings 300 feet above ground.... now can you walk the length? Not as easy is it? Why? Its the same difference, except this time a bit higher up. Now what if the building your on is on fire and your only escape is across the board?

See the point is it is how you control your mind to face the perceived dangers.

In addition to that if you are under 18, you will take a safety test (25 questions), this test u can take before or after your driving test, but is required to have your license issued. This is the law in Oregon.|||In most states you have to take driver's ed if you're under 18. Once you're 18 you don't need to, but you get cheaper insurance if you do. But I'm not sure about Oregon.

Do i have to take drivers ed to get my license?

I'm 17 years old.

Had my permit since March.

I drive with my dad everyday.

Do i really need to take drivers ed?

I already know how to drive, i know all the rules, the basics.

I really don't wanna drop $300+ for a class that teaches me everything i know.|||It varies from state to state, I know it's a lot of cash, but the class is worth it, trust me. And if you already have your permit, I don't think you do, you can just go in and take the test at the DMV to get your licesnse. You can always call the local DMV as well, that's what I would do personally.

But if you've got everything down, go ahead and call the DMV just to make sure, and then if they say you don't need the class, head down to the DMV and take your drivers ed test, in many states at the age of 17 you don't even need the permit anymore, you can just go in and get your license.|||Nope you can take the test when you're 18, but in order to take it earlier, you need to have taken the classes. But seeing as you're already 17, why not just wait a little longer?

What should I expect at drivers ed classes?

What is the classroom atmosphere like? What are the other students like? How was your experience at drivers ed classes? Was it easy?|||It depends on

1) what state you are in

2) what type of class you are taking - by the high school or private instructor

In my experience, I took a private instructor because I couldn't make the high school course. Also some private courses are more compact than the drawn out semester long high school ones.

The other students were normal 15 year old students.

The classes were interesting. I learned little facts like more accidents happen on dry roads than wet or icy roads, which when I was 15 thought was counter-intuitive -- but now make sense - it doesn't rain much compared to sun in my state.

Easy? well, that all depends on the student. Do you know how to ride a bike? Have you ever driven a boat? Do you pay attention to details when you are a passenger in a car? Are you naturally coordinated? Do you learn things quickly?

Too many variables. I hope this helps.|||due to my job, i had to drive underage. learning to drive was easy. it's looking out for other drivers. that's basically what they will drill into your brain. you should remember that.
