Do you have to take the Drivers ed class to take the permit test?

Im 15 and i have been reading the drivers handbook. But im not in the drivers ed class. Can i still take the permit test (written)?|||In michigan, if you are a minor, you take the test in driver's training. if not, you just take the test at secretary of state to get a temporary instruction permit, after which you can go on to get your license.|||In West Virginia you don't... but I'm not sure about everywhere...|||Ohio is the same as WV. You can take the written permit test %26amp; get your permit before driver's ed. In Ohio, a driving permit expires after 6 months %26amp; they can only be extended 1 or 2 times before you have to retake the permit test, so if your life is too busy for driver's ed, it isn't the time to get your driver's license. Good luck!!|||You need drivers ed, once you are done you get a certificate which is when you can get your permit.I used www.driveredtogo.com if you would like to use it. This course was very reliable and approved by the dmv. I learned a lot from this site, it was layed out in a very easy structure for me to learn.I completed this course in less than a week and got my permit, passing the first attempt. There is also this coupon/discount code you can use: X22-AF6-A8M . It is good for any course.|||in texas drivers ed classes, we sign up for drivers ed, and 3 days into the class, we take a permit test, and have to pass to get your instruction permit. but have to wait and take the classes for about 3 weeks to get our drivers license.
